New Beasties! I hope it is better than the 5 boroughs.
Beastie Boys’ “Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 ” Out Sept. 15th
6/23/09, 12:11 pm EST
The Beastie Boys announced today that their new album The Hot Sauce Committee Part I will be released on September 15th. The album features guests Santigold and Nas, who recently joined the Beasties at Bonnaroo to debut their Hot Sauce collaboration “Too Many Rappers” onstage. Additionally, a pair of the tracks — “Lee Majors Comes Again” and “B-Boys in the Cuts” — were sneakily sent out to fans who ordered the Check Your Head reissue earlier this year.
Hot Sauce is the Beasties’ first album since 2007’s instrumental The Mix-Up, and the first to feature the Boys rapping since 2005’s To the 5 Boroughs. Considering that this is Hot Sauce Committee Part 1, it seems inevitable that a Part 2 is in the works, but we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves. Instead, we’ll focus on August 25th, when the Beastie Boys will complete their series of reissues by releasing 1998’s Hello Nasty as a two-CD or vinyl box set. The band previously announced that 1994’s Ill Communication would be rereleased on July 14th.
As Rock Daily reported in February, the Beasties were finishing up work on an album they said featured “a lot of rhyming and playing and sampling — all combined.” Since then, the trio has booked dates at festivals including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, All Points West and Austin City Limits as we inch closer to September 15th.
The Hot Sauce Committee Part 1:
1. “Tadlock’s Glasses”
2. “B-Boys in the Cut”
3. “Make Some Noise”
4. “Nonstop Disco Powerpack”
5. “OK”
6. “Too Many Rappers [ft. Nas]”
7. “Say It”
8. “The Bill Harper Collection”
9. “Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win [ft. Santigold]”
10. “Long Burn the Fire”
11. “Bundt Cake”
12. “Funky Donkey”
13. “Lee Majors Come Again”
14. “Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament”
15. “Pop Your Balloon”
16. “Crazy Ass Shit”
17. “Here’s a Little Something for Ya”

Coop Edit: I'll keep my fingers crossed that they can bring some badass-ness back into their tracks. The peacenik stuff on the last few albums got pretty stale. It's good in practice, but not what you want to hear at 2:00am when you're hammered & ready to party. I'm stoked for the Ill Communication re-issue, Hello Nasty not so much.

Radiohead - In Rainbows CD 2
"Bangers + Mash", "Down Is The New Up", "Go Slowly", and "Last Flowers" could easily have been on the album. I love the return to sounding like a band again instead of a computer, hope that trend continues on the new album.

MacLachlan Plans Twin Peaks Comeback
16 June 2009 5:00 AM, PDT
Actor Kyle MacLachlan plans to resurrect his quirky TV drama Twin Peaks in short installments on the Internet.
The Desperate Housewives star played an FBI agent on the show between 1990 and 1991, working with legendary director David Lynch on the cult series.
The show was eventually cancelled after a decline in ratings, but returned in 1992 with a prequel movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.
MacLachlan is desperate to reprise his role once again and hopes to utilise the web to help fulfil his ambition of a return to Twin Peaks.
He says, "I have a crazy idea to bring back Twin Peaks on the net as five minute webisodes."
But the star admits the show's creator, David Lynch, won't be involved with the new version as he is too busy focusing on his initiatives to publicise meditation techniques.
MacLachlan adds, "David's focus is more on transcendental meditation now."

WOOKIE EDIT: Why you gotta be a hater? No shit that's metal. Dumbass. Now go get your signature C. C. Deville guitar or whatever you were flapping your gums about.

Steve Earle : Townes
I'm not going to tell you that this is his best album. Because, it's not. I'm not going to tell you that everyone is going to like this album, because they won't. But dammit, if you like Townes van Zandt and you like Steve Earle, then you'll appreciate this album. I like what Steve does with some of the songs, but I could do with out some of the other interpretations. His versions of Loretta and White Freightliner Blues are fantastic. I'm not a fan of his version of Lungs. Overall a good record, but like I said, not his best. For my money the deluxe version is worth it, for the extra disc with the acuoustic versions of all of the songs.

Shutter Island
WOOKIE EDIT: Dude I'm not a huge Leo fan, but I think this movie is going to kick ass. I can't wait for it to come out. I won't see it in the movie theater, because, well I don't go to movies any more, but when this shit comes out on Blu-ray, I'm there!

Mastodon, it's not you it's me.
WOOKIE EDIT!: Dude you are so wrong, a song or two might drag on a little long, but this album is fucking awesome. So it must be you. Mastodon has treated me well, taken me out to dinner and a movie and kissed me good night on the porch. Perfect gentlemen. Noodling is what Phish is for and this definitely isn't noodling. I hope you never get your call for coffee. Loser.

Beck: One Foot In The Grave Remastered
"Cause it's lonely here, in the ugly part of town. The buildings are all vacant, and the telephones are down."
If your only exposure to Beck is via "Loser" or "Where It's At" then give this one a spin and hear something completely different. These songs, a good majority of which are just vocals and the guitar, really show off what a damn good songwriter Beck has always been. I miss these albums where you kinda know what he's talking about and you kinda don't. "Asshole" was good enough for Tom Petty to cover so it's good enough for you.
Oh yeah, and the remastering job is good too. At least on the main album tracks. The bonus stuff is a little inconsistent as you'd expect but worth a listen for stuff like the original recording of "It's All In The Mind".
Thanks Mr. Hansen. Mellow Gold please next thanks. With "MTV Makes Me Want To Smoke Crack", cause I lost my single. Thanks.
